Things that students must do to apply for scholarships:
- Complete the FASFA (http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/) Be sure to enter MSU as the school you will be attending. You must include the date of submission on the check list document.
(If we are not able to attain the information we need from MSU financial aid office, then your application will be considered incomplete.) - Download the scholarship application packet (links below),print, complete and mail to the address on the bottom of the application. Application must be postmarked according to your specific deadline listed above.
- Provide completed Checklist.
- Provide the Letter of Recommendation.
- Provide your 300-500 Word Essay.
- Provide the Estimated Student Expense Cost Sheet.

In its commitment to recognize outstanding students whose academic credentials confirm their potential for success, Mississippi State University offers scholarships to students with outstanding ACT scores, and to National Merit and National Achievement semifinalists and finalists. Currently, over 40% of the incoming freshmen are awarded a four-year academic scholarship. Each year, the School of Architecture also recognizes student achievement through scholarships and annual awards. These monetary awards are made possible by friends and alumni of the School, building and industry suppliers, the American Architectural Foundation, and the American Institute of Architects, and are awarded on the basis of financial need, academic standing, and design excellence. Scholarship application forms are mailed to students when they are notified of their acceptance status into the School of Architecture. The following is a list of scholarships currently available to in-coming freshmen, and students entering their second- through fifth-year.
Entering / First Year Student Scholarships
Fred Carl, Sr. Memorial Scholarship ($3,000)
Applicants must be full-time students at Mississippi State University, entering students in the first-year design studio in the School of Architecture; residents of Mississippi; have achieved a minimum composite ACT score of 28 (or SAT equivalent), and can demonstrate financial need.
Boral Bricks, Inc. Annual Scholarship ($1,500)
Applicants must be entering first-year design studio in the School of Architecture at MSU, must be in good academic standing and can demonstrate financial need.
Associated Builders and Contractors, Inc. Scholarship ($1,000)
Applicants must be enrolled as full-time student; entering first-year design studio in the School of Architecture; be in good academic standing and can demonstrate financial need.
Creig B. Hoskins Architects Scholarship ($1,000)
Applicants must be entering the first-year design studio in the School of Architecture; be a resident of one of the following Mississippi counties: Bolivar, Calhoun, Carroll, Coahoma, Grenada, Humphreys, Leflore, Montgomery, Panola, Quitman, Sunflower, Tallahatchie, Washington, Yalobusha; and can demonstrate financial need.
T. Steven Davis Annual Scholarship ($1,000)
Applicants must be full-time students at Mississippi State University, entering students in the first-year design studio in the School of Architecture; residents of Mississippi; African-American; and can demonstrate financial need.
Other School of Architecture Scholarships
The Nathan and Anna Boggan Legacy Scholarship ($5,000)
The Nathan and Anna Boggan Legacy Scholarship seeks to reward high-achieving high school students applying to the School of Architecture at Mississippi State University. Students with demonstrated academic success, leadership experience, and acceptance into the School of Architecture will be considered for this $5,000 annual award. Interested students must have a minimum ACT score of 29 and a high school grade point average of 3.5. Interested applicants can apply through the Office of Admissions and Scholarships, using the university's comprehensive scholarship application.
Paul Grootkerk Travel Award ($5,000)
The Paul Grootkerk Travel Award (funded by Ted T. Porter) will be made available to full-time students in the School who will have completed their second year of study. Candidates must have a minimum MSU 2.5 GPA (based on a 4.0 scale), be hard working and can demonstrate financial need.
Burris Wagnon Architects, Scholarship ($2,500 - 1 student)
Applicants must be a full-time student enrolled in the School of Architecture @ Mississippi State University and entering the fifth year of architectural study within the School; have demonstrated academic achievement, and maintained a minimum MSU 3.0 GPA (based on a 4.0 scale); have demonstrated exceptional design work or the work ethic and ability to achieve exceptional design work in the fifth year of architectural study; and have demonstrated financial need.
Beard Riser Architects Travel Scholarship ($2,000)
Applicants must be currently enrolled as an upper level (third or fourth year) full-time student; high GPA; a hard-working design student; and can demonstrate financial need. This fellowship award supports national and international.
Ferretti/Karnstedt Annual Scholarship ($2,000)
Applicants must be enrolled as full-time students in the School of Architecture at Mississippi State University; have a minimum 3.00 overall grade point average; be of good moral character; and have demonstrated leadership ability.
Interior Elements Annual Scholarship ($2,000)
Applicants must be full-time students entering the fourth-year design studio in the School of Architecture, be in excellent academic standing with the university, and be a student with exceptional design ability.
Mockbee Hall & Drake Scholarship ($2,000)
Applicants must be: entering the fifth-year design studio in the School of Architecture; have a minimum grade point average of 3.0; be of good moral character; and have demonstrated leadership ability.
Studio South Architects Annual Scholarship ($1,500)
Candidates must be enrolled as a full-time student at Mississippi State University; will be a student in the fifth-year design studio in the School of Architecture; residents of Mississippi; a minority student; and can demonstrate financial need.
Charles H. Dean Jr. Annual Memorial Scholarship ($1,000)
Any students in their third- through fifth-year of design studio may apply. Applicants must be full-time students at Mississippi State University; have completed their second-year of design studio in the School of Architecture; residents of Mississippi; and can demonstrate financial need.
Fulcher-Bailey Annual Scholarship ($1,000)
Applicants must be entering the first-year design studio in the School of Architecture; residents of Mississippi; and can demonstrate financial need.
Hollomon Architects Scholarship ($1,000)
Students must be entering their fifth-year of academic work in the School of Architecture; residents of Mississippi; and can demonstrate financial need.
Matt L. Virden III Memorial Scholarship ($1,000)
Students must be entering the third-year (or higher) of design studio in the School of Architecture; have a minimum 2.80 overall grade point average; be of good moral character; have demonstrated leadership; can demonstrate financial need; and be a resident of one of the following Mississippi Delta counties: Bolivar, Carroll, Coahoma, Desoto, Holmes, Humphreys, Issaquena, Leflore, Panola, Quitman, Sharkey, Sunflower, Tallahatchie, Tate, Tunica, Warren, Washington, Yazoo.
Stephanie Mihojevich Pizzetta Annual Scholarship ($1,000)
Candidates must be full-time students at Mississippi State University; have completed their second-year of design studio in the School of Architecture; have a minimum grade point average of 3.0; and can demonstrate financial need.
National Organization of Minority Architecture Students (NOMAS) Scholarship ($500)
Applicants must be enrolled as full-time students in the School of Architecture at Mississippi State University; entering the second-year of the design studio in the School of Architecture; have a minimum overall grade point average of 2.0; be of good moral character; can demonstrate financial need; and be of a social group underrepresented in the field of Architecture.
Pryor & Morrow Annual Scholarship ($500)
Any students in their second- through fifth-year of design studio may apply; are full-time students at Mississippi State University; have completed their first-year design studio in the School of Architecture; are residents of Mississippi; and can demonstrate financial need.
Johnson-McAdams Design Discovery Camp Scholarships ($500-includes a non-refundable filing fee of $100)
Eligible high school students should contact the School of Architecture to request a scholarship application; applicants must be from Leflore County, Mississippi; be sixteen years of age or older; and be genuinely interested in a career in architecture and related disciplines. This scholarship funds four students to attend this eight-day summer workshop. Each scholarship will pay for all costs (except for one meal) of the selected participants' meals, lodging, and supplies.
AIA/AAF Minority/Disadvantaged Scholarship (Varies)
Only students entering an accredited, professional degree program leading to a Bachelor or Master of Architecture are eligible for this scholarship. Nominees should currently be high school seniors or college freshmen. Eligibility is also extended to students attending a community college or a technical school who plan to transfer to an NAAB-accredited program. Students who have completed one or more years of a standard university curriculum are not eligible to apply. Interested applicants must apply through the AIA website: http://www.aia.org/scholarship
AIA/AAF Scholarship Program for Professional Degree Candidates (Combination of funds from the American Institute of Architects and the American Architectural Foundation)
Assists students in one of the final two years of a professional degree program in architecture; students must be either in the third- or fourth-year of a five-year program leading to a bachelor of architecture or equivalent, or, in the second or third year of a three-to-four year program leading to a master of architecture and whose undergraduate degree is in a discipline other than architecture. Angelo "Pops" Primos Computer Scholarship (Varies)
Applicants must be enrolled as full-time students at Mississippi State University; entering the second-year design studio in the School of Architecture; and can demonstrate financial need.
